How to Become Wealthy by Reinventing Yourself
Do you want to become wealthy and put an end to all your financial issues once and for all?
If you answered yes, as I suspect most of you did, understand this; you're in good company. 95% of Americans are struggling financially. They are struggling financially and hanging by a thread. They are desperate and looking for help. Well, today is your lucky day.
I have spent five years in researching what wealthy people do every day that sets them apart from everyone else. What I uncovered is nothing less than the secret to financial success and I will share with you some of things you need to do to transform your life from one of financial failure to financial freedom.
There are three steps to transforming your financial life:
Step 1: Defining Who You Are Today
You are failing financially because you are doing things every day that are dragging you down financially. You may not even be aware of the specific things you do that impair your financial life. So what do you do to define yourself? How do you even begin?
It all starts with self-assessment. Take out a piece of paper. At the top of the paper write the words "My Bad Daily Habits". List those things that you know you do every day that represent bad behavior. Example:
- I do not read my industry periodicals every month.
- I come home after work and watch T.V. for three hours.
- I do not return phone calls on the same day.
- I do not call everyone I know on their birthday.
- I never call my clients or customers just to say hello.
- I have lost touch with old friends, colleagues, clients or customers.
- I waste time on the Internet.
- I do not exercise every day.
- I eat too much.
- I don't really listen when someone is talking. I'm too busy thinking about what I want to say.
- I spend too much money that I don't have.
- I drink too much.
- I smoke cigarettes.
- I gamble too much.
- I procrastinate.
- I am not as responsive to clients/customers as I know I should be.
- I don't work hard enough.
These bad daily habits are your weaknesses. They are the anchor around your financial neck and they are dragging you down into the abyss.
Step 2: Defining The Future You
How successful would the future you be? How much money would you make? What new skills would you have? What house would you live in? What car would you drive? What colleges would your children be attending because money is not a factor? How much money would you have in your bank account? What great things would the future you have accomplished? How would the future you be respected in your industry or beyond your industry? How many peoples lives would the future you have helped improve? What kind of vacations would the future you be going on? Is the future you a hard worker, knowledgeable, very skilled at what he/she does?
This, I know, is not an easy task. It requires that you force yourself to define success as you see it. What does wealth really mean to you anyway? It requires that you use your imagination. One way to tackle this step is to pretend you are a writer and you are writing a chapter about the person you wish you were. Don't skip any details. Define all the things about this future you that make you so great, so successful. Be specific. Define your future skills, the way you carry yourself in public, how respected you are by everyone. What would your future job title be? Why do they respect you? What have you done to be respected? Define physical characteristics as well. What will be your future physical condition? Write about the person you want to be. This is going to be the future you.
Step 3: Changing Your Daily Habits
The final step of mapping out your financial transformation is to define your new good daily habits. How do you do this? Simply take out a piece of paper. Now look at each one of your bad daily habits in step 1. On this piece of paper I want you to turn each one of your bad daily habits into their opposite. Example:
- I read my industry periodicals every month.
- I come home after work and watch T.V. for one hour.
- I returned every phone call today.
- I called someone on their birthday today.
- I called one customer today just to say hello.
- I did not waste time on the Internet today.
- I did 30 minutes of aerobic exercise today.
- I ate no more than 2,000 calories today.
- I forced myself to really listen to one person today.
- I did not waste any money today.
- I drank only 2 beers today.
- I did not smoke today.
- I did not gamble today.
- I did one thing today I needed to do for work that I did not want to do.
- I worked 30 minutes more today than I normally would.
These new daily habits represent the daily habits that the successful future you would possess. You have successfully turned your weaknesses (your old bad daily habits) into your new strengths (your new good daily habits). Welcome to your new life. Welcome to the Rich Habits.
